The days are getting shorter and starting to cool. It’s almost time to say goodbye to those festive tequila and vodka summer drinks and break out the bourbon (assuming you ever put it away). That said, summer is not yet dead and it may still feel too early to jump straight into the Old Fashioned or Rye Manhattan.
So what you ask is a good transition drink? The answer my friend is ‘The Third Man’. A bourbon based cocktail, the grapefruit and Campari pair well together like a nice Indian Summer afternoon. Enjoy!
The Third Man
From Garden and Gun magazine, this recipe is a nice cocktail to transition into the Fall. In a shaker put; 1.5 oz of bourbon, 1.5 oz of grapefruit juice, 3/4 oz of lemon juice, 3/4 oz of Campari and 1/2 oz of simple syrup. Shake until chilled and serve over ice.
