Gimlet
This essential cocktail was created for British sailors as a way to prevent scurvy. It didn’t take long to realize that this preventative drink was also delicious. While scurvy may be of the past, it seems like this tart tipple is here to stay. It doesn’t get much simpler or more refreshing than the classic Gimlet.
In a cocktail shaker add; 2 1/2 ounces of gin, 1/2 ounce of fresh lime juice, 1/2 ounce of simple syrup, ice. Shake until chilled, pour into a chilled glass. Garnish with a lime wheel.
French 75

Like the howitzer it was named after, the French 75 cocktail packs a punch, however it is elegant to both the eye and to the palate making it a wonderful drink to celebrate the New Year! In a shaker combine two parts gin (1.5 oz) and one part lemon juice (3/4 oz). Add a 1/2 oz of simple syrup. Add in some ice and then shake until chilled. Strain into a champagne or fluted wine glass and then top off with chilled champagne or dry sparkling wine. Finish with a lemon twist.
The Last Word
In a shaker put the following ingredients, add ice and then strain into a coupe glass. Garnish with a Luxardo cherry.
- 1.5 ounces of Gin
- 1.5 ounces of Green Chartreuse
- 1.0 ounce of Luxardo maraschino liquor
- Juice from half of a small lime
Magnolia
Put ingredients into a shaker, best served up in a coupe or Nick and Nora style glassware. Garnish with a thin wheel of lime.
- 2 ounces of dry gin
- 1 ounce of pineapple juice
- juice from half of a medium size lime (approx 3/4 of an ounce)
- 1/2 ounce of simple syrup (adjust to taste)
